Was hat sich da ganz unerwartet unter dem Bank am Teichrand angesiedelt? Ein Geranium, den ich nirgends im Garten habe, der mir aber ausnehmend gut gef\u00e4llt. Ich werde ihn nach dem Verbl\u00fchen sorgf\u00e4ltig herausnehmen und an einem sicheren Ort neu einpflanzen.<\/p>\n

I discovered a little surprising gift underneath the bench near the pond. An unknown geranium (this sort I don’t have in my garden), which I think is so nice. When the blooms are faded I’ll probably take it out and plant it somewhere else in the garden.<\/span><\/p>\n

Der 13. Mai (zur Zahl 13 scheine ich eine besondere Affinit\u00e4t zu besitzen \ud83d\ude09 !) brachte die erste Rosenbl\u00fcte dieses Jahres (Ramblerrose Scarman Himalayan Musk<\/em>)…<\/p>\n

I seem to have a special affinity with the number 13 \ud83d\ude09 ! This year it was the day of the first rose blooming (Rambler Scarman Himalayan Musk<\/em>)….<\/span><\/p>\n

…und gleichzeitig auch den ersten Besuch einer lieben Bloggerin aus dem Ausland.<\/p>\n

Meine Hostas sind zu ihrer vollen Sch\u00f6nheit erwacht…wenn nur die gefr\u00e4ssigen Schnecken nicht w\u00e4ren!<\/p>\n

My hostas are growing beautifully, if only there weren’t all the hungry slugs! <\/span><\/p>\n

Aber der Mai brachte nicht nur eitel Freude und Wonne, sondern auch sehr viel harte Arbeit. Im Rosengartenteil musste und muss immer noch viel „gerodet“ werden, denn bald spielen ja die Rosen hier die Hauptrolle.<\/p>\n

May was not a month of sheer delight. It also meant a lot of heavy work. In my rosegarden there was (and still is!) a lot of weeding, as soon all the roses show up. <\/span><\/p>\n

Diesem Unkraut werde ich einfach nicht Meisterin. Es hat tiefe Pfahlwurzeln und muss einzeln ausgegraben werden, kein leichtes Unterfangen bei der Gr\u00f6sse dieses Gartenteils. Und ich erwische einfach nie alle Wurzelteile. Als der Rebberg zum Rosengarten verwandelt wurde, h\u00e4tte ich mindestens eine Saison warten sollen mit Anpflanzen. Dadurch h\u00e4tte ich auch die Fl\u00e4che richtig von den Unkr\u00e4utern befreien k\u00f6nnen. Aber nein, ich war so ungeduldig und habe einfach in den umgepfl\u00fcgten Ackerboden gepflanzt. Ein grober Fehler, der sich noch heute bitter r\u00e4cht….<\/p>\n

I fight against this persistent weed. It has deep taproots which I have to dig out one by one. Not an easy job with regard to the size of this garden room. And almost never I catch the whole root. When we turned the little vineyard into a rosegarden, I should have waited at least for one year before planting roses and all the perennials. So it would have been possible to get rid of all the persistent weed we now have. But impatient as I was, I immediately started to plant in the ploughed field. A mistake which I still have to pay for!<\/span><\/p>\n

Nebst diesem, f\u00fcr mich noch namenlosen Unkraut, hat es auch noch verschiedene, nun h\u00fcfthohe, hartn\u00e4ckige Gr\u00e4ser, die unterirdisch kr\u00e4ftige Wurzelgeflechte bilden und ebenfalls sehr m\u00fchsam zu entfernen sind. (So Margit, nun hast du einen Teil meiner schlimmen Gartenecken gesehen \ud83d\ude09 !)<\/p>\n

Apart from the above mentioned weed (I don’t know the name of it), there are also various sorts of grass which have a lot of tangled roots and are quite difficult to remove.<\/span><\/p>\n

Viele Buchskugeln und Hecken warten auf ihren j\u00e4hrlichen Schnitt, eine Arbeit die ich gerne mache, hat sie doch etwas Meditatives an sich.
\nA lot of boxtrees and hedges are waiting for their annual trimming. This work I like to do, it is a kind of meditation for me.
