Vor kurzem durfte ich einen Besuch bei Edith und mit ihr eine Wanderung am Kaiserstuhl machen. Ich war gespannt auf diese Weinbaugegend, bin ich doch selber in einer\u00a0 aufgewachsen. So war es naheliegend, dass ich mich auf den Spaziergang durch die Rebberge freute und wo es dann auch sehr viel Interessantes zu sehen gab.<\/p>\n

Recently I had the chance to visit another blogger friend in Germany. She lives in the beautiful region around the „Kaiserstuhl“, (low mountain range in the Upper Rhine Valley) which is said to be the sunniest corner in Germany. I was very interested and looking forward to seeing the wine-growing area there as I grew up in one too.\u00a0 <\/font><\/p>\n

Nachdem wir durch Hohlwege mit L\u00f6ssw\u00e4nden spaziert sind und die Anh\u00f6he erklommen hatten, entdeckten wir Kroatzbeeren und genossen die leicht s\u00e4uerliche Frucht. Diese Beere kannte ich nicht, sie \u00e4hneln den Brombeeren die wir bei uns auch im Wald finden, die aber s\u00fcsser sind.<\/p>\n

After a short walk along\u00a0 ways with the typical walls of loess, we reached the top of the hill and found a sort of wild blackberries, called „Kroatzbeere“. We ate and enjoyed the slightly sour fruit. I didn’t know this berry before which by the way looks almost like our blackberry that we can find in our forest but which tastes much sweeter. <\/font><\/p>\n

Und pl\u00f6tzlich \u00f6ffnet sich der Blick auf die Rebberge, die etwas anders aussehen als ich es von daheim gewohnt bin.<\/p>\n

And suddenly you had the view to the vineyards which look a little different to the ones where I grew up.<\/font><\/p>\n

Aber mein Auge wird schnell auf den Boden gelenkt, wo sich Wanzen (Kohlwanze\u00a0 Eurydema ornatum<\/em>) mit verschiedenen Farbmustern auf Bl\u00e4ttern tummeln.<\/p>\n

But soon my eyes were directed to the ground where a lot of colorful patterned bugs (Eurydema ornatum<\/em>) were romping about on leaves. <\/font><\/p>\n

Edith sieht sofort was es ein paar Schritte weiter zu sehen gibt, die Skorpionsfliege (Parnorpa communis<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Edith quickly discovers everything that is of interest, here a fly named\u00a0 Parnorpa communis.<\/em> <\/font><\/p>\n

Dieses kleine zarte Pfl\u00e4nzchen verbinde ich seines Namens wegen immer mit „M\u00e4rchengeschichten“. Dem Tausendg\u00fcldenkraut werden ja magische Kr\u00e4fte zugeschrieben.<\/p>\n

This tiny and delicate plant, common centaury (centarium erythaea<\/em>), immediately reminds me of fairy tales. It is said to have magical power. <\/font><\/p>\n

Zwischendurch muss ich einfach immer wieder auf die umwerfend sch\u00f6ne, terrassierte Reblandschaft blicken. Alle Reben sehen sehr gepflegt aus und sind akkurat geschnitten und nat\u00fcrlich f\u00fcr die maschinelle Bearbeitung gedacht.<\/p>\n

From time to time I had to take a glance at the beautiful scenery, i.e. the vines which were growing on terraced grounds. All the vines looked very well-tended, precisely pruned and prepared for machine processing.<\/font><\/p>\n

Ich mag zwar keine Schnecken in meinem Garten, aber in der freien Natur und in dieser Form, faszinieren sie mich.<\/p>\n

I don’t like snails in my garden. But in nature and looking like this, they are fascinating. <\/font><\/p>\n

Endlich gelingt es mir auch ein paar ersch\u00f6pfte Schmetterlinge (Mauerfuchs, Lasiommata megera<\/em>)\u00a0 nach ihrem leichten Tanz um unsere K\u00f6pfe fotografisch einzufangen.<\/p>\n

Finally I succeeded to take a picture of these butterflies\u00a0 (Lasiommata megera<\/em>) which were dancing in the air around our heads. <\/font><\/p>\n

Und da ich keine Spinnenphobie habe, kann ich auch ganz ruhig dieser Zebraspinne (Argiope bruennichi<\/em>) beim Einfangen ihrer Beute zuschauen.<\/p>\n

I don’t have a spider phobia and therefore it is quite interesting to watch this one (Argiope bruennichi<\/em>) catching its prey. <\/font><\/p>\n

Diese Turmschnecken (Zebrina detrita<\/em>) sollen kleine Wetterpropheten sein. Je h\u00f6her sie sich vom Boden entfernen, desto besser soll das Wetter werden. Diese habe ich in unserer Gegend noch nie gesehen.<\/p>\n

These snails\u00a0 (Zebrina detrita<\/em>) are said to be a sort of weather forecast predictors. The higher they are to be found on plants, the better the weather should be in the coming days. I have never seen before this sort of snails in the region where I live.<\/font><\/p>\n

Wie wundersch\u00f6n muss der Blick von\u00a0 diesem Ort erst sein, wenn die Reben sich im bunten Herbstkleid zeigen..<\/p>\n

I can imagine how beautiful these vineyards must be looking when they have their colored autumn leaves.<\/font><\/p>\n

Zum ersten Mal sehe ich eine Gottesanbeterin in natura. H\u00e4tte sie ohne Hinweis von Edith nie entdeckt. Von dieser R\u00e4uberin wird ja gesagt, dass sie die M\u00e4nnchen auffrisst. Aber ein solcher Vorfall scheint eher auf einem Missverst\u00e4ndnis zu beruhen, indem sie ihren Partner mit ihren sonstigen Opfer verwechselt.<\/p>\n

For the first time I can observe a real Praying Mantis. But I admit that I wouldn’t have seen it without the helpf of Edith. It is said that this „robber“ is eating its male, but<\/font> probably it is rather a missunderstanding as the praying mantis\u00a0 is getting its\u00a0 partner mixed up with the usual victims.<\/font><\/p>\n
