Wenn ich unter den vielen von mir sehr gesch\u00e4tzten Pflanzen in meinem Garten, eine auch nicht missen m\u00f6chte, dann w\u00e4re es die Verbena bonariensis. Als ich sie zum ersten Mal in England sah, war es um mich geschehen. Ich wollte diese \u00fcber all den andern Pflanzen schwebenden Bl\u00fcten ebenfalls im Garten haben. In Abbey House (in der N\u00e4he von Bath) verkaufte mir Mrs.Pollard eine Pflanze und etwas sp\u00e4ter stellte ich dann fest, dass im Garten meiner Freundin ebenfalls solche wuchsen.\u00a0 Von ihr bekam ich dann auch noch ein paar Pfl\u00e4nzchen, so dass mittlerweilen an verschiedenenen Stellen nun hunderte dieser Eisenkrautpflanzen in meinem Garten wachsen.<\/p>\n

When somebody asks me\u00a0 if there was a plant I never wanted to do without it again, I would answer\u00a0 „verbena bonariensis“ (among other plants of course!). I saw it for the first time in England and immediately felt in love with these blooms dancing over the heads of all the other plants. Luckily Mrs. Pollard from Abbey House (near Bath) sold me a plant. Coming home and visiting the garden of my best girlfriend, I saw that she had them too. So I got some more plants for my garden. Actually there are a hundreds growing on several places here.<\/font><\/p>\n

Dieses Jahr ist mir aufgefallen, dass nicht wie \u00fcblich der Schmetterlingsflieder viele G\u00e4ste anlockt, sondern eben die Verbena bonariensis.<\/p>\n

This year I found out that our buddleyas weren’t the most attractive plants for all the butterflies, but the verbena bonariensis<\/font>.<\/p>\n

An einem Nachmittag vor kurzem habe ich innert 10 Minuten jede Menge umherschwirrende G\u00e4ste angetroffen. Es war nicht immer leicht sie bildlich (und noch scharf dazu) einzufangen. Hier der Admiral (Vanessa atalanta). Alle Bilder lassen sich wie immer durch anklicken vergr\u00f6ssern.<\/p>\n

One afternoon, not long ago and this during about 10 minutes, I met a lot of guests moving or rather flying around. It wasn’t so easy to catch them with the camera and get a good picture. Above the admiral (Vanessa atalanta). As usual you can enlarge all the pictures for details. <\/font><\/p>\n

Auch das Tagpfauenauge (Nymphalis io) ist ein h\u00e4ufiger Gast im Garten.<\/p>\n

This butterfly (Nymphalis) too, is a frequent guest in the garden. <\/font><\/p>\n

Taubenschw\u00e4nzchen (Macroglossum stellatarum) sind sehr schwierig zu fotografieren. Sie schwirren umher wie Kolibris.<\/p>\n

The hummingbird moths\u00a0 (Macroglossum stellatarum) are quite difficult to take pictures of. They are whirring like hummingbirds. <\/font><\/p>\n

Welch wunderbare Farbenpracht auf so kleinen Fl\u00fcgeln…ich staune immer wieder.<\/p>\n

It’s always amazing to see this colorfulness on the little wings.<\/font><\/p>\n

Bis alle Bl\u00fctenkelche ausgesaugt sind, dauert es wohl Tage….<\/p>\n

It probably still needs a lot of days to suck all the calyx…..<\/font><\/p>\n

…aber nun\u00a0 fehlt\u00a0 langsam die n\u00f6tige W\u00e4rme und auch der Sonnenschein wird Mangelware\u00a0 und deshalb verabschieden sich nach und nach die Insekten und Schmetterlinge f\u00fcr dieses Jahr. Uebrigens, falls jemand Interesse an Samen der Verbena bonariensis hat, bitte melden.<\/p>\n

…and as it isn’t warm any longer now and the sun being a rare commodity, most of the insects and butterflies will soon disappear until next year. In case somebody would like to have some seeds of verbena bonariensis, please contact me.
