Der Buchstaben B hat f\u00fcr mich eine spezielle Bedeutung, beginnt doch einiges was mir wichtig ist damit. Wir, als sechsk\u00f6pfige Familie, haben zudem alle einen Vornamen, der mit diesem Buchstaben anf\u00e4ngt (zuf\u00e4llig!). Und der erste und wohl sehr wichtige Bezug zum Garten, beginnend mit B w\u00e4re, wie k\u00f6nnte es anders sein:<\/p>\n

BLUMEN<\/strong>. Ein Garten ohne Blumen ist f\u00fcr mich pers\u00f6nlich unvorstellbar. Ich kenne aber solche G\u00e4rten und sie k\u00f6nnen auch ganz reizvoll und interessant sein. In meinem Garten jedoch spielen sie die Hauptrolle. Wahrscheinlich hatte ich aus diesem Grund schon vor dreissig Jahren einen kleinen Schrebergarten von knapp 50m2, „vollgestopft“ mit Blumen. Diese Schrebergartenzeit dauerte drei, vier Jahre und dann zogen wir in unser Haus hier auf dem Land. Der neue Garten war dann vorwiegend Spielwiese f\u00fcr unsere vier Kinder. Aber\u00a0 das hat sich vor knapp 10 Jahren ge\u00e4ndert. Jetzt ist es ein Blumenreich vermischt mit vielen B\u00e4umen, B\u00fcschen und sonstigen Pflanzen….mein Garten eben \ud83d\ude42 !!<\/p>\n

There is a special connection to the letter B, as a lot of things which are important to me, begin with this letter. By the way my whole family of six persons has a name starting with B (by accident!). The first and also most important link to my garden starting with the German word „Blume“ stands\u00a0 (of course) for:<\/font><\/p>\n

Flowers<\/strong>: I cannot imaging my garden without flowers. I know there are such gardens and they can be quite attractive and interesting. In my garden, however,\u00a0 flowers are of great importance. This\u00a0 probably was also the reason for having an allotment\u00a0 about thirty years ago. This little garden of 50m2 was filled with flowers which I used for bouquets only. I had this allotment for about three, four years and afterwards we moved to our house here in the country. Then my garden was the playing field for our four kids and this only changed about 10 years ago when I slowly started to be really interested in plants. Now it is a sea of flowers mixed with trees, bushes and other plants… well,\u00a0 my garden \ud83d\ude42 !

BODEN<\/strong>: wir haben einen sehr schweren Lehmboden der im Sommer bei Trockenheit relativ schnell breite Risse bildet. Seit einigen Jahren versuche ich ihn mit Kompost und Sand zu verbessern. Im Rosengarten, der vor f\u00fcnf Jahren noch ein kleiner Weinberg war, ist er auch noch stark mit Unkr\u00e4utern verdichtet. Leider machte ich damals den grossen Fehler (ich war so ungeduldig!), dass ich nach dem Umpfl\u00fcgen nicht mindestens ein Jahr mit Bepflanzen gewartet und zuerst alles vom Unkraut befreit habe. Das r\u00e4cht sich nun bitter.<\/p>\n

Soil<\/strong>: we have a very heavy clay soil which tends to make large cracks when it is dry. For years already I try to improve the soil with compost and sand. A lot of weeds is growing\u00a0 in the rosegarden which five years ago still was a little vineyard. Unfortunately I made a big mistake when changing the vineyard to a rosegarden (I was very impatient and keen on planting!). I should have waited for at least one year before planting my roses and other plants and weeded the whole area first.\u00a0 <\/font><\/p>\n

B\u00dcCHER<\/strong> .\u00a0 Bei B\u00fcchern ganz allgemein werde ich immer wieder schwach, und bei Gartenb\u00fcchern im besonderen \ud83d\ude09 !<\/p>\n

Books<\/strong>:\u00a0 I cannot resist books on the whole and gardening books in particular \ud83d\ude09 ! <\/font><\/p>\n

B\u00c4UME<\/strong> und BL\u00c4TTER<\/strong> spielen seit meiner Kindheit eine wichtige Rolle. Damals gaben mir die grossen B\u00e4ume das Gef\u00fchl von Geborgenheit, eine Arte „Sicherheit“ (ein unerkl\u00e4rbares, aber gutes Gef\u00fchl!) und man konnte sich zudem so herrlich hinter den St\u00e4mmen verstecken. Die Bl\u00e4tter wurden in der Puppenk\u00fcche „verkocht“ und gegessen oder anderweitig zum Spielen „umfunktioniert“. Das erste Gef\u00fchl hat sich all die Jahre hindurch nicht ver\u00e4ndert. Die Baumrinden und Bl\u00e4tter\u00a0 faszinieren mich heute in all ihren Formen, Texturen und\u00a0 Farben die sich je nach Jahreszeit ver\u00e4ndern. In unserem Garten stehen verschiedene grosse Laubb\u00e4ume, die dem Garten Struktur, einen Rahmen und auch Schatten geben.<\/p>\n

Trees and leaves <\/strong>were always important to me. In my childhood the big trees gave me the feeling of security (a good but inexplicable feeling!) and they were perfect for our game of hide-and-seek too. The leaves were used in our doll kitchen for cooking (and we ate them too!) and other children „activities“. The first feeling didn’t change. Today the barks of a tree as well as the leaves\u00a0 in all their forms, shapes, textures and colours are fascinating me. We have several big trees in our garden, giving it a structure, frame and shadow too. <\/font><\/p>\n

BEETE<\/strong> sind der Rahmen f\u00fcr meine Pflanzen(sammlungen). Sie werden bei mir nach Lust und Laune geformt und ver\u00e4ndert, haben manchmal einen s\u00e4uberlich abgestochenen Rand, manchmal eine Einfassung aus Steinen oder Holz oder kommen daher, wie es sich gerade ergibt.<\/p>\n

Borders<\/strong> are somehow the frame for my plant collections. I create them according to my feelings, sometimes they have a neatly cut edge, sometimes they get an edging with stones or wood or they just have a form by chance. <\/font><\/p>\n

BEOBACHTEN<\/strong>, schauen was sich im Garten so alles tut, was sich ver\u00e4ndert, diese Neugierde ist ein ganz wichtiger Antrieb f\u00fcr meine T\u00e4tigkeiten im Garten. Es sind dann die kleinen, manchmals fast unscheinbaren Dinge die faszinieren und einen staunen oder wundern l\u00e4sst.<\/p>\n

To observe<\/strong>. To look what is going on, what’s happening in my garden, this curiosity is a very important drive for all my activities there. Mostly there are the little and inconspicious things that finally are fascinating and astonishing.
\n<\/font><\/p>\n

BLOGGEN<\/strong>. In den letzten 20 Monaten ist mir das Bloggen zu einer lieben Besch\u00e4ftigung in der Freizeit geworden. Vieles habe ich im Austausch mit anderen Gartens\u00fcchtigen erfahren und lernen d\u00fcrfen und dadurch wurde auch ein\u00a0 neues „Gef\u00fchl“ in mir geweckt, das ich bis anhin nicht unbedingt in Zusammenhang mit dem Garten brachte (siehe nachstehend).<\/p>\n

To blog<\/strong><\/font>: The last 20 months I spent a lot of time with blogging and it became quite an important activity in my spare time. I’ve learnt a lot by exchanging with other „garden maniacs“ and this also brought a new „feeling“ which up to now I didn’t exactly relate with gardening (see below).<\/font><\/p>\n

(Diese wundersch\u00f6ne blaue Meconopsis sah ich erstmals in Branklyn Gardens in Schottland, aber sie w\u00e4chst leider (noch) nicht in meinem Garten-….I<\/font><\/font> saw this beautiful blue meconopsis in Branklyn Gardens, Scotland, <\/font>but unfortunately it doesn’t grow (yet)\u00a0 in my garden.<\/font>)<\/font><\/p>\n

BEGEHRLICHKEIT<\/strong>.<\/strong> Ja, dieses verflixte „Gef\u00fchl“, das mich nicht zur Ruhe kommen l\u00e4sst, das mich immer wieder antreibt auf die Suche zu gehen….nach einer\u00a0 neuen, f\u00fcr mich bis dato unbekannten oder in einer Zeitschrift oder in einem Blogbeitrag\u00a0 vorgestellten und neu entdeckten Pflanze. Die Liste der „Haben-wollen-Pflanzen“ wird immer gr\u00f6sser, der Platz daf\u00fcr immer seltener und vom Geldbeutel wollen wir gar nicht reden. Was kann man dagegen tun, ausser Vernunft walten lassen? Und wie schwer ist doch letzteres \ud83d\ude09 !<\/p>\n

Desire:<\/strong> Oh yes, this – sorry – „blasted“ feeling that doesn’t give me a minute’s peace, that urges me to search for new plants which up to now were unknown to me or have just been found in a garden magazine or presented\u00a0 in a post of a blog friend. The list of these „I- want-to-have“ plants is continuously growing,\u00a0 but the space where I could plant\u00a0 them is becoming rare and not least to\u00a0 mention the purse. What can be done except to be reasonable? And how difficult is the latter \ud83d\ude09 !
