Meine neue, im Fr\u00fchjahr in einen Topf gepflanzte Rose, „Sophy’s Perpetual“ <\/em>hat mich mit einer \u00fcberreichen und kontinuierlichen Bl\u00fcte \u00fcberrascht und begl\u00fcckt. Ich werde f\u00fcr sie noch einen passenden Platz im Garten suchen.<\/p>\n My new rose „Sophy’s Perpetual<\/em>“ that I planted in a pot this Spring, surprised me very much (and made me happy!) as it bloomed so rich and continuously. I’ll still have to look for a good place in the garden.<\/font><\/p>\n Dass diese gef\u00fcllte weisse Cosmea in meinem Garten – nach einigen Jahren Abwesenheit – wieder gebl\u00fcht hat, ist f\u00fcr mich eine grosse Freude. Vor Jahren kaufte ich mir in England mal Samen, s\u00e4te diesen aus. Die vielen Bl\u00fcten erregten Aufsehen und ich konnte grossz\u00fcgig Samen in der Nachbarschaft verteilen. Meine Schwiegermutter bekam auch davon. W\u00e4hrend bei allen, ich eingeschlossen, die Nachfolgesaat eher k\u00fcmmerlich bis gar nicht gelang, konnte meine Schwiegermutter drei grosse Pflanzen vermelden, die sich selbst ausges\u00e4t hatten. Ich bekam wieder Samen von ihr, aber es wurden ungef\u00fcllte Blumen. Sie sind zwar auch sch\u00f6n…..Dieses Fr\u00fchjahr verpasste ich den richtigen Zeitpunkt f\u00fcr die Aussaat und bekam deshalb von meiner Schwiegermutter drei Jungpfl\u00e4nzchen. Und zwei \u00fcberlebten die gefr\u00e4ssigen Schneckenattacken und bl\u00fchten….wiederum gef\u00fcllt!! Ich bin gespannt auf das kommende Jahr….<\/p>\n It was a great joy to see this white, filled cosmea blooming. It was not in my garden for some time. I bought some seeds in England a couple of years ago. The great blooms were very attractive and I could distribute the seeds to my neigbours and my MIL. All persons that were given the seeds didn’t succeed (me too!) in growing up those white cosmeas except my mother in law. She had three plants. So later on, some seeds came back from her to me, but the following year showed, it were just the normal white cosmeas. Well, they are nice too, but…. This Spring, however, I was short in time for sowing and got three little seedlings from my MIL. Two of them survived in spite of all the slug attacks and they started to bloom…..again filled! I’m curious to see what’s going to happen next year! <\/font><\/p>\n Erstmals habe ich ein paar Dahlienst\u00f6cke erfolgreich \u00fcberwintert. Sie haben mir dies mit einer \u00fcberreichen Bl\u00fcte verdankt, so dass ich alles daran setzen werde, dass es wiederum klappt im n\u00e4chsten Jahr.<\/p>\n For the first time I was successful in overwintering some dahlias. I was rewarded with a very rich bloom, and therefore I’ll try to do my best for a repetition in the coming year.<\/font><\/p>\n Die verloren geglaubte weisse Anemone „Honorine Jobert<\/em>“ ist nach zwei Jahren Abwesenheit (es war auch kein Blatt mehr sichtbar) wieder in ganzer Sch\u00f6nheit aufgetaucht.<\/p>\n Suddenly, my missing white anemone japonica „Honorine Jobert<\/em>„, came up again. For more than two years it has been completely dissapeared.<\/font><\/p>\n Der gr\u00f6sste Frust dieses Jahr war wohl das pl\u00f6tzliche Auftauchen der gef\u00fcrchteten Buchskrankheit (Cylindrocladium buxicola). Einige meiner Buchskugeln sind leider davon betroffen.<\/p>\n The greatest dissapointment this year, certainly was the sudden appearance of the box disease (Cylindrocladium buxicola). Unfortunately some of my box balls got it too.<\/font><\/p>\n Verbena bonariensis <\/em>hat sich, dank dem milden Winter, \u00fcberall im Garten angesiedelt. Ich liebe deren filigranen Bl\u00fcten, die so leicht und majest\u00e4tisch \u00fcber all den anderen Blumen schweben.<\/p>\n Verbena bonariensis<\/em> has seeded out in my garden thanks to the mild winter. I love those filigree blooms that seem to balance like butterflies over all the other flowers. Stellvertretend f\u00fcr die vielen Rosen im Garten, hier das Bild meiner vor vier Jahren gemachten zwei Stecklingen des Ramblers „Maria Lisa“, <\/em>die \u00fcppig und gesund gebl\u00fcht haben.<\/p>\n Standing for all my roses, I take the picture of my two rose cuttings „Maria Lisa<\/em>“ (I made them four years ago). They were blooming beautifully. <\/font><\/p>\n 2007 war f\u00fcr mich ein positives Hortensienjahr, gleichzeitig aber auch……<\/p>\n 2007 was a positive year for all my hydrangeas, but at the same time….. <\/font><\/p>\n …das Jahr der hungrigen Schnecken. Oft wurden \u00fcber Nacht Pflanzen kahl gefressen.<\/p>\n …it was also the year of the hungry slugs. Many plants felt victim to their greed.<\/font><\/p>\n Es war aber auch das Jahr des goldenen Herbstes, mit wunderbaren Farben.<\/p>\n Autumn brought wonderful golden colours. <\/font><\/p>\n Aber nicht nur in dieser Gartensaison, eigentlich jedes Jahr, k\u00e4mpfe ich gegen hartn\u00e4ckige Unkr\u00e4uter, die sich schneller ausbreiten als ich sie ausreissen kann.<\/p>\n Not only in this gardening season I had to fight against persistent weeds. In fact, I have to do it every year.<\/font><\/p>\n Noch nie hatten wir dermassen viele Quitten wie auch Kornelkirschen. Ich konnte nur die H\u00e4lfte der letzteren als Konfit\u00fcre verarbeiten….der Rest erfreute die V\u00f6gel.<\/p>\n Never before we could harvest such a lot of quinces and cornus mas. I just managed to make jam of half of the cornus mas, the remaining rest did certainly please the birds.<\/font><\/p>\n Fast jedes Jahr von neuem ein Flop….meine kranken Tomaten. Und doch habe ich die Hoffnung nicht aufgegeben, dass es wieder einmal klappen wird mit dem Anbau von sch\u00f6nen, gesunden, saftigen Tomaten.<\/p>\n Almost every year my tomatoes turn out to be a flop. However, I don’t give up my hope that perhaps one day I’ll have wonderful, healthy and juicy tomatoes.<\/font><\/p>\n H\u00f6hepunkte im diesj\u00e4hrigen Garten waren auch die Rittersporne. Die verschiedenen wundersch\u00f6nen Blaut\u00f6ne ersetzten oft den fehlenden blauen Himmel im Sommer. Blau, die symbolische Farbe f\u00fcr Hoffnung…. f\u00fcr mich ist es auch die Hoffnung darauf, dass das kommende Jahr wiederum mehr „Tops“ als „Flops“ bringen m\u00f6ge.<\/p>\n A highlight for sure were all the delphiniums this year. The various and wonderful blue shades quite often replaced the missing blue sky in this summer.
