\nDer Herbst, der reiche, zog ins Land.
\nNun weben all die guten Spinnen
\nSo manches feine Festgewand.<\/p>\n

Sie weben zu des Tages Feier
\nMit kunstge\u00fcbtem Hinterbein
\nGanz allerliebste Elfenschleier
\nAls Schmuck f\u00fcr Wiese, Flur und Hain.<\/p>\n

Ja tausend Silberf\u00e4den geben
\nDem Winde sie zum leichten Spiel,
\nDie ziehen sanft dahin und schweben
\nAns unbewusst bestimmte Ziel.<\/p>\n

Sie ziehen in das Wunderl\u00e4ndchen,
\nWo Liebe scheu im Anbeginn,
\nUnd leis‘ verkn\u00fcpft ein zarts B\u00e4ndchen
\nDen Sch\u00e4fer mit der Sch\u00e4ferin.<\/p>\n

The lovely summer has been leaving
\nand with its wealth arrived the fall.
\nThe spiders are all kindly weaving
\nthe garments for the festival.<\/p>\n

They’re weaving for the celebration,
\nwith indlegs practiced in the trade,
\nthe veils of elves as decoration
\nfor hill and dale and mead and glade.<\/p>\n

Yes, thousand silver threads donated
\ninto the wind to turn and bend
\nare softly drifting where they’re fated
\ntoward the unconscious, settled end:<\/p>\n

They’re drifting toward a fairy landing
\nwhere love extends its shy caress
\nand softly ties, with silken banding,
\nthe shepherd to the shepherdess.<\/p>\n
