Nach dem Fällen der verschiedenen Bäume entstand u.a. freier Platz für die Rosen aus der Böschung vom Gartenteil, der nun aufgegeben wird. Gleichzeitig gab es auch den erwünschten Durchgang für den Bagger der die anstehenden Erdarbeiten machen sollte. Da Rosen idealerweise vor dem Austrieb im Frühling gepflanzt werden sollten (besser wäre ja noch eine Pflanzung im Herbst), drängte ich auf den Umzug des Rosenpavillons.
After having cleared the slope of trees we got empty space for the roses which have to be moved from the slope in the area that is destinated for the new house. At the same time we had the necessary entrance for the excavator machine which had to do the upcoming groundwork. I wanted to move the gazebo now as the roses should be planted before they start to bud (autumn would be the perfect season for this work).
Aber wohin damit, wenn der Pavillon nicht zu nahe am Haus stehen sollte und der Platz dafür etwas rar ist? Meine Idee neben dem Teich wäre gut gewesen, wenn ich den Teich nicht hätte verkleinern müssen (das Grössenverhältnis zum übrigen Bereich hätte dann nicht mehr gestimmt). Aber der Hauptgärtner meinte mit einem Hinweis auf meine noch vielen Pflanzen die umziehen sollten, dass hier evtl. eine Möglichkeit bestünde neue Beete zu gestalten. Und da frau nicht alles haben kann, entschloss ich mich (etwas traurig zwar) auf den Teich ganz zu verzichten (allerdings war dann einer unserer Söhne nicht sehr begeistert als er das Resultat sah, denn er hatte beim damaligen Ausgraben sehr aktiv mitgeholfen).
But where to go with a gazebo if there is little space left and we didn’t want to have it too near to the house? My idea was to have it next to our pond. But in this case I should have made the pond smaller and then the size of it wouldn’t be in a correct relation to the whole area. And finally the head gardener came with the idea of two large new garden beds which I needed for the plants I wanted to move. Nobody can have everything, I know. So I sadly decided to completely give up the pond. One of our sons, who once helped to dig it out when he was a teenager, wasn’t happy when seeing the actual result.
Der Teich wurde also aufgeschüttet, aber vorher gab es noch ein Kompliment vom Gärtner für das dazumalige fachgerechte Ausheben der Teichform (Bücherwissen!). Folie und Vlies waren trotz Wurzeldruck der Birke (die wir stehengelassen haben) noch intakt.
The pond has been filled with humus soil but and at the same time we got a compliment from the gardener for the properly made pond (knowledge out of books!). The root pressure of the birch even didn’t damage the pond liner.
Und das ist nun der neue Platz für den Pavillon. Auf der westlichen Seite ist neben der Birke ein Halbschattenbeet, in welches ich bereits einige Hortensien umgesiedelt habe (zum Teil schon im letzten Jahr).
And the above picture now shows the newly prepared place for the gazebo. On the western side we still have a birch tree and there also is a gardenbeed in the half shadow where I planted some of my hydrangeas ( some of them I already moved last summer).
Da das Auseinanderschrauben des Rosenpavillons leider nicht mehr möglich war (die Kosten für das fachgerechte Demontieren und wieder Aufstellen durch den Hersteller wäre bedeutend teurer geworden), musste eine Transportmöglichkeit gefunden werden. Der Pavillon stand ja im Zentrum des nun abtretenden Gartens und musste deshalb in seiner ganzen Form von einer Ebene auf einen tiefer liegenden Platz kommen, damit er mit der Baggerschaufel gefasst und gehoben werden konnte. Also trugen vier starke Männer das Gestell über Mauern und Gartenbeete (ob die Pflanzen dort dies wohl überleben werden?) bis zum Punkt, wo der Bagger eingreifen konnte.
Unfortunately it wasn’t possible anymore to dismantle the gazebo (and the skillfull dismantling made by the manufacturer would have been far too expensive) and so we had to look for a possibility to move it in its entire form. The gazebo had its place in the center of the garden that I was leaving and therefore it had to be brought to a lower level where the excavator shovel could reach and grasp it. Finally four strong men carried the whole heavy thing, walking over walls and gardenbeds (I wonder whether the plants there will survive!) to a point where the excavator shovel could pick it up.
Es klappte ….und mit stockendem Atem verfolgte ich die Reise des Pavillons auf der Strasse bis zum neuen Standort auf der anderen Seite des Hauses.
It worked,…. but with wide open eyes and gasp of breath I followed the trip of the gazebo on the road to its new place on the other side of the house.
Mit viel körperlichem Einsatz gelang es ihn an die richtige Stelle zu hieven und gerade hinzustellen. Ein grosses, erleichtertes Aufschnaufen bei allen Arbeitenden ….und auch bei mir!
It really was hard work to heave the gazebo to its new place and bring it to the perfect position. When it was finally done we all had a big sigh of relief.
Und da ist er nun. Zwar noch kahl, aber dies wird sich bald ändern, denn eine der damals drei selbstgezogenen Rambler „Maria Liesa“ ist bereits ausgegraben wie auch die „Climbing Cécile Brunner“, die wieder an ihren vertrauten Anlehnungsplatz gepflanzt werden.
And there it is. Though the gazebo still looks a little bare, I am sure this will change pretty soon. The rambler „Maria Liesa“ (one of the three cuttings I once made) as well as the climbing „Cécile Brunner“ will be planted again at their familiar place.
Der aufgeschüttete Teich hat neuen Humus erhalten. Leider sieht der alles andere als ideal aus. Im Moment bin ich am Einarbeiten von weiterem Kompost und nicht zuletzt auch

am Herausklauben von grossen Steinen, die mitgeliefert wurden. Bevor diese beiden Beete nicht gut vorbereitet sind, pflanze ich nichts. Ich bin sowieso noch im Clinch mit der Frage, wer darf überhaupt in diese zwei grossen Beete und welche Pflanzen müssen noch bis Spätsommer warten (sicherlich die Pfingstrosen). Fortsetzung folgt….
and most of all I am digging out all the big stones and other material that came along with this soil. As long as the beds do not have a good preparation I won’t plant anything. Furthermore I’m in the conflict with the decision of what plants I’ll finally move there und what kind of plants have to wait till late summer (peonies for sure!). So, stay tuned….
